Northern Lights Chase by Bus

An evening bus tour from Tromsø in search of the Northern Lights, with a campfire, light snacks and hot drinks: pick a date and book your seat.

Green Northern Lights over a fjord at night, with town lights along the shore

About this tour

Leave the city of Tromsø behind and head into the polar night in search of the Aurora Borealis. Depending on the weather, the bus drives along the fjords or inland, to the places the guides have picked from the forecast that evening.

On the way, your guide tells you about the Northern Lights and about life and culture north of the Polar Circle. The Northern Lights are normally green, but shades of pink or purple might also occur.

When we stop to watch the sky, we make a fire and serve light snacks and hot drinks to keep you warm. A photographer/guide comes along and gives you tips on how to take pictures of the Northern Lights.

On cloudy nights in the Tromsø area we sometimes chase the Northern Lights all the way into Finland. Do not forget to bring your passport.
