A guided walk from the pier through the Art Nouveau centre of Ålesund: pick a date and book.

The Brosundet canal in Ålesund, lined with Art Nouveau buildings

About this tour

Ålesund is known for its Art Nouveau architecture, with spires, towers and ornaments. A fire in 1904 destroyed much of the town; it was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style of the time, blended with the maritime character of the town.

Your guide leads you on a walk through the centre, starting at the pier. On the way you pass the Hellebrua bridge, Apotekertorget square with its statues about the coastal history of Ålesund, and the shopping and pedestrian street.

  • The tour starts at the Ålesund pier.
  • On the way: Ålesund kirke, Hotel Brosundet, Molja Fyr, Apotekertorget square, Hellebrua (bridge), Skateflukaia pier, the monument to the Englandsfarerne, and the pedestrian street.

The order of the sights may vary depending on traffic and weather conditions.
